Dr. Angie Ahrens was born and raised in Ponca City, OK. She attended college at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. In 1999, she was accepted to NSU College of Optometry. She served as class officer, was a member of several committees and associations and participated in intramural sports and mission trips.
After earning her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003, Dr. Ahrens chose to pursue a Residency in Ocular Disease and Pre- and Post-Surgical Management at Triad Eye Medical Clinic and Cataract Institute in Tulsa, OK. As her residency concluded, she joined the staff at Triad where she provided excellent care for her patients for 11 years. Dr. Ahrens served as clinical director for the Muskogee, OK office and Director of LASIK and refractive surgery during her time at Triad. She is a career long member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, and now the Texas Optometric Association.
Dr. Ahrens joined Newberry Vision Center as a therapeutic optometrist in 2015 after moving to Texas. She looks forward to meeting patients from McKinney and the surrounding area.
She is married to her husband, Sean, and mother to two sweet girls. In her free time, she enjoys running, gardening, and baking.
